In fact, Margarets Forest Apartments sit right between beautiful natural forest and the cafe strip in the Margaret River town centre.

We travelled south from Bunbury and arrived mid afternoon on a sunny Friday, after a stop in Busselton to visit The Art Geo Cultural Complex  where two artist friends, Denise Gillies and Lynne Mitchell were holding an exhibition called Ground Matters. In this respect, and from a tourist’s point of view, Margarets Forest is a great starting off point for excursions in and around Margaret River, as well as to Dunsborough and Busselton.

Margarets Forest Welcome

We found the girls at reception to be super friendly and helpful. They showed us where to park (almost next to our apartment, so convenient) and then took us up the stairs to the apartment itself.

We stayed in a 2 bedroomed holiday apartment, on an upper floor and couldn’t have been happier.

The complex is so convenient for all the boutiques, art galleries, cafes, and restaurants in Margaret River.

When we arrived we popped to the local IGA and bought some gourmet supplies, then had a wonderful supper on our verandah at Margarets Forest overlooking the treetops.

The apartment was stylishly furnished with everything that we could possibly need. Check the Margarets Forest website for more details.

The kitchen was a good size with microwave, an oven and a large fridge, and there was a washing machine, iron and tumble dryer should you need, in a laundry area. As far as self catering goes, there was nothing we lacked.

The lounge area was spacious with comfortable sofas, and a table to seat six.

There were two beautifully furnished bedrooms, a decent sized balcony with a barbecue, a bathroom with bath and shower, and a separate toilet.

Margaret River Accommodation close to town

Margaret River accommodation doesn’t really get more convenient because the town is literally on the doorstep, and yet the apartments are situated on the edge of a forest and surrounded by tall shady trees.

We strolled down the hill and over the river to briefly explore the start of various nature walks and cycle paths before heading up the main street to the hotel for a glass of wine in the beer garden as the sun set.

Next morning Dave popped over to the Margaret River Bakery, which is just opposite, and bought us barista coffee and a lovely hot croissant for breakfast on our balcony, before we set off on our  our  Sip n’ Cycle tour with Dirty Detours

That night we popped (almost directly) across the road to what’s considered ‘the locals local’ and enjoyed a wonderful meal at Swings Taphouse and Kitchen. How lovely it was not to have to worry about drinking and driving – so we enjoyed some of Swings & Roundabouts wine on tap – a specialty of the restaurant.
