Dwarfing the yachts in the inner harbour, the Dawn Princess carrying over 200 passengers, docked into Bunbury today.
Soon afterwards Bunbury’s normally, cosily quiet city streets were full of tourists looking for mementos and Christmas presents, although one person was overhead to ask for a Melbourne newspaper. Was she on the wrong ship I wondered, or had she fallen asleep on the way in 🙂
Paul McBride (Marlston Markets) organised a market at Bicentennial Square to coincide with the Dawn Princess’s visit, and with about 80 stalls consisting of varied produce from the South West, the area in front of the Tourism Office was turned into a bustling mecca for tourists and locals.
I was tempted by Elise’s quirky bracelets made from beads and leather and cute curios, which at just $12 a piece make perfect stocking fillers. The Rainbow Shack also stocks watches and beaded mobiles. elisesavaresse@hotmail.com
