Everyone knows that Margaret River Western Australia is a wine producing area, it’s Mediterranean climate and soils are perfect for viticulture. But Margaret River offers much more than just its wine tasting experiences and when we have a few hours spare there are plenty of things we like to do in, and around the town.
So if you’re feeling energetic – here’s a weekend’s worth of fun activities to try.
Kayak up the river from the rivermouth – you can hire canoes, or take your own.

Go to Watershed Wine Estate for lunch – on the Busselton Highway, just south of the town. There’s the cafe and the a la carte restaurant, two different prices, two different experiences.

Bicyle along the old train track from Station Road to Cowaramup (and back). Have breakfast at the Old Bakehouse – yum!

Walk along Redgate Beach – white sand, powder blue sky and turquoise sea – these are the colours of summer in SWA.

Visit one of the amazing caves along Caves Road. Margaret River Caves are renowned and there are several tourist caves to choose from, each one offers a different experience – and they are much bigger and more fascinating than their small signs advertise.
