I’m running workshops at the Lyndendale Gallery again this year, but there are heaps of other arty sessions on offer besides my writing and blogging offerings. So here’s a list of all the workshops available at the Lyndendale Gallery until June.

This is a multi media presentation which covers the following: – Why have a blog? What is a blog useful for? How can it further my business? How can I make money from a blog? How can I set up a blog? What should I write about?

Freelance Writing for Magazines & Newspapers1”with Jo Castro

The first of a series of four stand-alone workshops

In these 4 workshops – Learn the nuts and bolts of writing for publication, and see your name in print.
We’ll cover how to contact an editor, what to write, how to find ideas, how to target different magazines, how to write intros and endings, why great headlines rock, and much, much more.
Fees: $50 .

Minimum of 5 participants.

 ’Card it or Frame it’… Miniature Watercolours – Winter’ with Marguerite Aberle

 

No experience is necessary, though it will help if you have some idea.

 

All materials provided.

Fees: $95

Maximum of 8 minimum of 4 participants

 

Thursday March 14th  9.30 to 12.30

An introduction to blogging with Jo Castro

Beginning Watercolours with Neville Peterkin

Learn the fundamentals of watercolour painting –wash and watercolour techniques, stretching paper and choosing materials.

(This session is supported by live demonstrations) -

All materials supplied

Fees: $180. Maximum of 8, minimum of 4 participants

 

Saturday/Sunday March 23rd -24th 9 to 4

A Weekend of Watercolour with Neville Peterkin

Designed for those with some watercolour experience.(Minimum pre-requisite 2 of Neville Peterkin’s workshops or equivalent)

Participants to supply their own stretched paper, paints and brushes (a list will be supplied)

Fees: $200

Maximum of 8, minimum of 4 participants

Encaustic Art with Colin Pratt

Session  1:        9.30am – 12.00

Introduction to Encaustic art and the application of wax using a range of techniques and equipment.

Session 2:        1.00pm – 3.30

Development of techniques and inclusion of
collage materials (paper, textiles, found objects).

Fees:  $150 for full day workshop [$80 if person can ONLY make the morning]

 Maximum 8 people [3 minimum]

 

MAY

Felt-making-making with Val Hornibrook

Make your own scarf from wool and silk using the technique of felt-making.

All materials provided but please bring 3 old towels & a 2-litre icecream container or a 1-litre plastic milk bottle

Fees: $95 (includes scarf kit)

Maximum of 6 minimum of 3 participants

Saturday May 25th 9.30 to 3.30
Basketmaking using Natural Fibres

 with Sue Dennis                                                              
Session 1: 9.30am – 12.00
Examples of some techniques. Gathering & preparation of plant material.
Introduction of twining technique.
Session 2: 1.00pm – 3.30
Development of freeform&/or shape. Inclusion of other materials (paper, textiles, found objects). Finishing the piece.

 

Some materials provided, but bring along: secateurs; scissors; natural fibre twine and/or rags/textiles (cotton, hemp, jute, silk, linen); plant material; large darning needle.
Maximum 8 people [3 minimum]

Fees: $150 for full day workshop

JUNE

Saturday June 8th 9.30 to 3.30
An Introduction to hand printed Woodcut with Sue Dennis
Some materials provided, but bring along:

A5 drawing; pencils & pack of woodcutting or lino tools (Jacksons); cartridge paper &/or rice paper &/or, tissue paper).
Session  1:        9.30am – 12.00
Develop drawing. Transfer image to wood. Cutting and mark-making techniques.  Cut wood block.
Session 2:        12.30pm – 3.30
Take a proof. Inking up. Hand printing.

Maximum 8 people [3 minimum]
Fees:  $150 for full day workshop
