Two Important Blogging Tips

Blogging tips by jo castro

Hello ZigaZagers,

It’s nearly the weekend (Yay!) and it’s Bloggie Friday again, and because I’ve had a busy week giving writing and blogging workshops, I haven’t had time to write a bloggie post (sorry).

But following on from the 11 Point Plan for Successful Blogging I have two important things to say to you if you are blogging.

Blogging tips to Remember

12. Persevere (as kindly suggested by A Luxury Travel Blog on Twitter in response to the 11 Point Plan post)

13. Believe in yourself.

This week I’m urging you to please do both, and then keep up the habit. We all hit low points and downturns, it’s only natural, and the trick that successful bloggers remember is that things will get better if you Persevere and Believe in Yourself.

I’d like to throw this post open to anyone who’s reading. Have you perhaps a tip to offer – Point 14 or 15 or 16 perhaps in reply to the Eleven Point Plan for Successful Blogging. Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section. Let’s see how many we can get – follow on from the last number you see in the comments.

  1. 14 Be prepared to Give before you Get! Or just ‘Give more than you get’. One of my pet blogosphere peeves is people who expect tweets, shares & comments without doing any of that hard yakka themselves. Giving WILL result in getting, so you may as well just enjoy the giving ride!

  2. Great point Red. Playing it forward is a cornerstone of blogging. Talking of which I’m popping over to you now!

  3. A tip from me would be to “Step away from the blog”. It can be very easy for blogging to become all consuming, I love blogging and at times I think it is addictive! But there can be too much of a good thing. I make sure I regularly take time off from blogging through out the year. It is often these times that I come up with some of my most creative ideas. It also recharges me and it is good for my family to my full attention for weeks on end.

  4. Hi Nicole, Yes, that’s so true! I also find blogging addictive and it’s hard to pull away. Your tip to take a complete break and give our families our full attention is spot on I think πŸ™‚

  5. Nice posts, Jo. I’d say
    14. Be Brave. ( which is somewhat close to your #6 )

Sometimes you identify best with readers when you say things that are hard to say

  6. Thanks Mary, yes being brave is a great one. It’s so easy to flounder … to be wishy washy and not get out there and just boldly wave the flag.

  7. Accept the downtimes and revile in the uptimes. They are all learning experiences.

  8. Sound advice, Jill. Sometimes it’s all too easy to want to give up, and also when you’re working alone, it’s hard to take time out to reward yourself for work well done.

  9. Always nice to hear tips from more experienced bloggers.

    Thanks for sharing Jo!

  10. Denise Gillies says:

    Hi, Jo
We haven’t been to Kalbarri for a couple of years. Your article makes me want to revisit. Thanks.

  11. That’s good Denise! Hope you manage to get up there again soon. You’ve actually managed to comment on Blogging Tips I think, rather than the Kalbarri article. No matter πŸ™‚ Thanks for popping by x

  12. Ravi Verma

These two blogging tips you have shared in the post are admirable and can be applied by every blogger.

    Thanks for sharing it
